Minimum/General Experience: Must have at least 5 years’ related Wide area and Local area network design/implementation and support experience. Also requires knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network engineering plus a strong knowledge of and ability to support enterprise network hardware, concepts, routing protocols, and network security posture. Must be able to work on call when needed and be available to travel 20% of the time.
-Strong understanding and experience with Cisco routing, switching, and security products
-Strong understand of WAN technologies to include MPLS, Point to Point, and Internet VPN
-Cisco CCNA certification or better
-Experience with WAN appliances such as proxies, load balancers, intrusion detection, etc
-Experience working in a service desk environment and supporting customer infrastructure
-Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or equivalent technical certifications
-Understanding of network security and hardening
-Ability to configure QoS for real time traffic
Good to Have
-Experience working with Juniper firewalls and WAN equipment
-Data Center and WAN migrations
-Cisco CCNP and CCSP certifications (or CCIE)
-Security+, CISSP, or other vendor neutral security certifiations
-Experience with DoD enterprise networks
Functional Responsibility: Analyzes local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and configuring transport for OC3, T3, T1 circuits. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including email, file transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing, and the like; configures systems to user requirements; supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed; performs various tests and documents results; administers and maintains local and wide area networks; provides technical support and troubleshooting to users; plans and documents network layout design; administers change management processes and network security vulnerability assessments.
